Almost the End of the 1st cycle
Good morning,Well we are coming down to the finish line of our first cycle! The Captain is remarkable, thank god, no allergic reactions to any drugs, but is feeling some of the effects of the chemo regiment. He still has his his unyielding positive attitude; and of course, his never ending sense of humor, but no hand massage today as yet!!. Annie our nurse has been spectacular, but you know our Captain he had to tell Annie that he preferred her hair "down" instead of "up."!!! Being her sweet self, she said she would remember that in the future. We have a private room today, a beautiful view, but he's longing for the ocean view. Hopefully we will be heading down "over the bridge" to renew his strength and spirit and breathe in that salt air. We wish you all a very Happy Easter. We thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Love Barb and Don

I believe this is your most recent favorite quote which I am stealing from you and giving back. Can't wait to see you this weekend.
ReplyDelete"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do." (Eleanor Roosevelt).
Hey Don, If you need a good laugh check out Chad's picture on this blog. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteNow uncle, I know things are going to get tough and you are already feeling tired and worn out. Remember your strength...I think it is time for some Bob Seger to remind you that you are our "rock":
ReplyDelete"My hands were steady
My eyes were clear and bright
My walk had purpose
My steps were quick and light
And I held firmly
To what I felt was right
Like a rock
Like a rock, I was strong as I could be
Like a rock, nothin' ever got to me
Like a rock, I was something to see
Like a rock."
And when all else fails, and you need some cheering up, Josh is around to entertain you with his interior design skills. He has a wonderful idea for some floral patterns and mouldings in your dining room. :)
Hey Don - One bridge down and the big one in site...so I am home today and I get to give you the "Drew update"...Your grandson has spent most of the morning chasing the cat around the house but after that, he's coming with me and Auntie Paulette to pick up my new bike...real training for this member of the Captain's Crew begins today...just curious -are wearing your biking shorts around the hospital? Hope you get over that bridge soon. We're thinking about you. Love, the Drews(#1 & #2)and Paulette

P.S. Tell Katie we're thinking of her too!
One day an Irishman who had been stranded on a deserted island for over 10 years, saw a speck on the horizon. He thought to himself, "It's certainly not a ship." And, as the speck got closer and closer, he began to rule out the possibilities of a small boat or even a raft.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly there emerged from the surf a wet-suited black clad figure. Putting aside the scuba gear and the top of the wet suit, there stood a drop-dead gorgeous blonde! The glamorous blonde strode up to the stunned Irishman and said to him, "Tell me, how long has it been since you've had a cigarette
"Ten years," replied the amazed Irishman. With that, she reached over and unzipped a waterproofed pocket on the left sleeve of her wet suit, and pulled out a fresh pack of cigarettes. He takes one, lights it, and takes a long drag. "Faith and begorra,"said the man, "that is so good I'd almost forgotten how great a smoke can be!"
"And how long has it been since you've had a drop of good Irish whiskey" asked the blonde.
Trembling, the castaway replied, "Ten years." Hearing that, the blonde reaches over to her right sleeve unzips a pocket there and removes a flask and hands it to him. He opened the flask and took a long drink. "Tis nectar of the gods!" stated the Irishman. "Tis truly fantastic!!!
At this point the gorgeous blonde started to slowly unzip the long front of her wet suit, right down the middle. She looked at the trembling man and asked, "And how long has it been since you played around?"
With tears in his eyes, the Irishman fell to his knees and sobbed;
"Sweet Jesus! Don't tell me you've got golf clubs in there too!"
